The classic Cosmopolitan, one of the favorite cocktails, the credit might go to its role in the HBO show, Sex and the City. Most bartenders know how to make this light, fruity Martini, making it a great choice for a casual night out. This is how it’s done !!

Cosmopolitan

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 oz vodka
  • 1/2 oz Cointreau
  • 1/4 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1 oz cranberry juice
  • Orange peel for garnish

Preparation

  1. Shake all the ingredients with ice in a shaker.
  2. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
  3. Garnish with an orange peel.
  4. Optionally, use citron vodka in place of unflavored vodka for a fruitier taste.

DSC Jaipur Lit Fest starts with a blast !!

Welcome to the world of the best books, writers, cricketers, fashion, music, glamour and excitement as Jaipur Literary Fest has taken off today!!

The DSC Jaipur Literature Festival 2013, the largest literature festival in Asia-pacific , kicked off today with rights campaigner and Bengali writer Mahasweta Devi’s keynote speech – ‘O to Live Again’.

 Ashok Gehlot – CM of Rajasthan and Margaret Alva – Governor of Rajasthan graced the inaugural event with their valuable presence.

Having written on the “culture of the downtrodden” throughout her life, Mahasweta Devi referred to the simple dreams of simple people in her speech. She called for the “right to dream” to be the first fundamental right of all human beings.

The five-day haven of literature that starts today brings together renowned authors, thinkers, philosophers from around the world to Jaipur. It will have speakers who will bring their thoughts, ideas, journeys and experiences to the Festival through debates, discussions and readings.

The other sessions thorough the day to watch out for, are – ‘Remembering Sunil Da’ – A session that will mark the tribute to iconic author Sunil Gandopadhyay. It will be a session that will focus on his journey in the Indian Literature. Another session on that will catch the visitors attention will be Colliding Worlds: The Quest for Justice’ will speak across the divides of ideology and conventional identity tags. There would be an intriguing session by musical genius Javed Akhtar and Ameena Saiyid, Managing Director, Oxford University Press, Pakistan called ‘Ismat and Annie’. It will be a session where two brilliant minds will discuss literary argument between two Urdu writers Ismat Chughtai and Qurrat-ul-Ain Haider.

The DSC Jaipur Literature Festival is considered to be Asia’s leading literature event, celebrating national and international writers, and encompassing a range of activities including film, music and theatre.

Grateful Dead

Ingredients

  • 1 part tequila
  • 1 part vodka
  • 1 part light rum
  • 1 part gin
  • 1 part raspberry liqueur

Preparation

  1. Add ice to your highball glass.
  2. Add vodka, gin, Chambord liqueur, tequila and light rum to your cocktail shaker.
  3. Shake, then strain into your highball glass and Serve !!

How about serving your guests with this tangy yummy starter and surprising them??

Pudina Paneer Tikka

  • Ingredients:
    Paneer balls – 12

    For marinating

  • Hung curd – 2 tbsp
  • Salt – 1/2 tsp
  • Jawitri-elaichi powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Ginger – 1/2 tsp, finely chopped
  • Mint – 1 tsp, finely chopped
  • Green chilli – 1/2 tsp, finely chopped
  • Coriander – 1/2 tsp, finely chopped
  • Kasoori methi – 1/4 tsp, finely chopped
  • Yellow chilli powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Onions – 2 tsp, finely chopped
  • Roasted chana powder – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
  • Lemon juice – 1 tsp
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Water – 1 tsp

    For garnishing

  • Roundels of onion
  • Roundels of tomato
  • Chaat masala – 1 tsp
  • Mint chutney – 30 gms

    Method

1. Mix all the ingredients together to form a marinate for the paneer balls.
2. Coat the cheese balls with this marinate and keep aside for 30 minutes.
3. Grill in a pre-heated oven until a golden crust appears on the paneer balls.
4. Sprinkle some chaat masala and garnish with the onion and tomato roundels.
5. Serve hot with mint chutney.
