Halloween cocktails do not have to be all creepy, and there is certainly no need for them to be gruesome tasting. This year we have a new haunting drink and it tastes pretty good.

Black Cat

This is one Black Cat you won’t mind crossing your path. At first glance you might think that the flavor combination is a little strange, but it’s actually amazing. This is a delightful cocktail for your Halloween party tonight !!



  • 1 oz vodka
  • 1 oz cherry brandy
  • Cranberry juice
  • Cola


  1. Pour the vodka and brandy into a highball glass filled with ice.
  2. Fill the glass with equal amounts of cranberry juice and cola.

Have a Delicious Dussehra

Dussehra is celebrated on the tenth day of Navratri. This day marks the triumph of Lord Rama over Demon king Ravana. On this day, Rama killed Ravana. It is also considered to be an auspicious day to begin new things in life.

Feasting is an important feature of Dussehra or Vijayadashami celebrations. Explore one of the tastiest and easiest Dussehra recipes here. Dussehra is celebrated as a community festival in North India with lip-smacking food. It is considered to be one of the most important festivals of India. It is celebrated throughout the country but each region has its own specialty.

Here is the recipe of a luscious Hara Bhara Kabab to have on this festive occasion after the end of your fasts 🙂

Hara Bhara Kabab


  • 300 gms Potatoes (boiled)
  • 150 gms Peas (boiled)
  • 150 gms Spinach (boiled)
  • ½ cup Coriander Leaves (chopped)
  • 2 piece of Ginger (grated)
  • 1 tbsp Chaat Masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil


1. Mix and mash together the potatoes, peas and spinach till a smooth paste is formed.
2. Add coriander leaves, ginger, salt and chat masala to it and mix well.
3. Keep it in the refrigerator for an hour.
4. Take out the mixture from the refrigerator and shape into patties.
5. Heat the oil on a heavy-bottomed pan and shallow-fry the kebabs until crisp on each side.
6. Drain the excess oil on paper towels.

Why is Navratri celebrated?

Navratri festival starts today and Jaipurites give a sparkling welcome to it. Navratri is a festival of complete devotion, fasting, fun and enjoyment. The festival is celebrated for Nine days and it symbolizes victory of good over evil. During these nine days, nine forms of goddess are worshipped.

But do you all know the story behind Navratri?? Let’s see why the festival is celebrated.


The legend of Navratri goes back to the time, when mighty demon Mahishasur worshipped Lord Shiva and obtained the power of eternity. Very soon he started misusing his power, killing innocent people and set out to win all three loks. Everybody was traumatized and the Gods appealed to Lord Shiva to get rid of Mahishasur. For this, all three trinity, Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva combined their powers and created a divine female power, Durga. She was beautiful and Mahishasur got completely magnetized. He approached Goddess Durga with an intention to marry her. Goddess Durga accepted this proposal with a condition that Mahishasur should defeat her in a battle. He agreed. The fierce battle took place for 9 days, and at the end of ninth day goddess Durga conquered Mahishasur. The nine nights came to be known as Navratri and the tenth day came to be known as Vijaydashmi or Dussehra.

Celebration in Jaipur

Jaipur celebrates this festival with a lot of fanfare. People clad themselves in new clothes. During the nine days, they worship the different forms of Goddess Durga. Jaipur witnesses nine days of complete devotion that can be seen in almost all temples of mother goddess and nine nights of absolute enjoyment with Dandiya Ras.  There are a number of customs and rituals performed during this festival. A large number of devotees observe fasts. They also offer prayers and offer other things to the Goddess. After the puja, they eat these as ‘prasad’.

On this day huge effigies of Ravana, Meghnath and Kumbhkaran are burnt, after enacting a small part from Ramayana. People enjoy it a lot and gather in large numbers in various grounds to see it.


A variety of dishes are made and served during this festival. Special Navratri cuisine is a part of the multitude of culinary delights of the country. Specific ingredients and vegetables are used for preparing delicious recipes on Navratri. The choice of vegetables may vary from region to region. Spices are restricted to red chillies, turmeric and cumin seeds and only rock salt can be used. However, one can eat milk, curd, fruits and nuts.

Special recipe for the World Vegetarian Day

It’s World Vegetarian Day Today!!

The first day of October is celebrated as World Vegetarian Day. This day is dedicated to all the vegetarians and is symbolic of the celebration and support for all the vegetarian dishes. This event was founded by the North American Vegetarian Day in 1977. It commemorates the health-supporting and life affirming benefits of vegetarianism. There are many reasons people choose a vegetarian diet.  It has proven health benefits, saves animals’ lives and helps to preserve the Earth.

Though there is nothing much that you can do to celebrate this day, you can make the day special with a special vegetarian recipe. Here’s is a recipe of Forresta’s special Napolitian Pasta which is made with garlic flavored tomato sauce. This vegetarian recipe is very easy to make and at the same time very delicious to savor.

Napolitian Spaghetti

 What you’ll need

  • 1 small onion, quartered and sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, sliced
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 5 medium tomatoes, chopped and juice reserved
  • 1 cup slivered fresh basil leaves
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. fresh thyme
  • 1 pound spaghetti
  • Grated Parmesan cheese


  1. Sauté onion and garlic in olive oil in saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add tomatoes, reserved juice, basil, salt, pepper, sugar and thyme.
  3. Simmer, uncovered, 30 to 45 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, cook spaghetti.
  5. In a heated bowl, spoon the sauce over drained spaghetti and sprinkle with cheese.
  6. Makes 4 to 6 servings
