With winter neatly tucked up in the attic, it’s time to come out of our cocoons and enjoy the spring festival, Holi.
Holi – the festival of colors – is undoubtedly the most fun-filled and boisterous of Hindu festival. It’s an occasion that brings in unadulterated joy and mirth, fun and play, music and dance, and, of course, lots of bright colors!
Holi is a great time to visit and experience something very unique. In Jaipur, Holi coincides with The Elephant Festival, involving elephant sports and noisy parades, music, folk theatre, dance performances and of course playing with colors.
Over the years, the annual Jaipur Elephant Festival has become very popular with tourists, as well as the local populace of the city. This year the festival will be celebrated with traditional gaiety at theRambagh Polo Ground on March 7. There will be a variety of Cultural programs at the ground which will be brought alive with musicians & dancers. One can witness the impressive procession of the majestic animal’s colourfully painted & adorned with glittering ornaments and embroidered velvets.
e festival descends into basically a huge multicolored rave (in the good sense), with people dancing in the midst of clouds of colour, and throwing flower petals at each other.
