Get packing for a memorable Holi at Jaipur !

24 02 2012

With winter neatly tucked up in the attic, it’s time to come out of our cocoons and enjoy the spring festival, Holi.

Holi – the festival of colors – is undoubtedly the most fun-filled and boisterous of Hindu festival. It’s an occasion that brings in unadulterated joy and mirth, fun and play, music and dance, and, of course, lots of bright colors!

Holi is a great time to visit and experience something very unique. In Jaipur, Holi coincides with The Elephant Festival, involving elephant sports and noisy parades, music, folk theatre, dance performances and of course playing with colors.

Over the years, the annual Jaipur Elephant Festival has become very popular with tourists, as well as the local populace of the city. This year the festival will be celebrated with traditional gaiety at theRambagh Polo Ground on March 7. There will be a variety of Cultural programs at the ground which will be brought alive with musicians & dancers. One can witness the impressive procession of the majestic animal’s colourfully painted & adorned with glittering ornaments and embroidered velvets.

e festival descends into basically a huge multicolored rave (in the good sense), with people dancing in the midst of clouds of colour, and throwing flower petals at each other.

We would love to share some information about the city during Holi Festival that will help you to plan your journey accordingly-

-City Palace remains closed on Holi and so does the Bazaars.

-All monuments are closed on 8th March, so, sight-seeing will not be possible on Holi.

-Wear clothes that you have no special fondness for, or buy white clothes specifically for Holi and let the paint soak in & dry before you wash them.

-If you venture out for experience, do not keep your passport, money, flight tickets with you, just leave them at hotel room to stay safe.

We suggest you to go for advance bookings!! It’s the end of high season in northern India.
